Oud Du Jour
Nobel trees seem to have a spirit and a soul, an energy drawn from the Earth that radiates, comforts and protects. OUD develops within the heartwood of these trees. A process that can be compared to an Oyster making a pearl. It happens rarely, very rarely. Which is why OUD is more costly than gold. Its perfume is uniquely rich, deep, strong and intense. It must be used carefully, and by very skilled perfumers to be kept from overpowering the fragrance notes it is blended with. OUD DU JOUR is a Masters creation, where its many ingredients are seamlessly integrated with the rich OUD into a magnificent, soft and sunny perfume. It remains a beautiful and discreet companion all day long, without either overwhelming nor disappearing.
• Top Notes: : Persian Saffron, Pink Pepper, Wild Raspberry

It seemed like for a few years in niche perfume, there really was an “oud du jour”. Everyone was launching an oud perfume, or at least a perfume with the word “oud” in its title. I don’t know if Amouroud is joking about this or if “Oud du Jour” is a fun thing to say (because it is). Amouroud Oud du Jour opens with dry spices and a fruity raspberry. This may sound like some sort of fruity-floral opening, but it isn’t. This is the sort of “rustic raspberry” opening of something like Tom Ford Tuscan Leather. However, Oud du Jour is really fruity with ripe red berries and a saffron that adds a “chewy” savoriness. To my surprise, the fruity, berry notes linger for most of the wear. Oud du Jour eventually gets smokier, like leather, dried rose petals and woodsy/patchouli incense. In summary, Oud du Jour has it all – smoke, spices, rose petals, woods, leather and a red fruit compote – but it’s never overwhelming and none of the notes are combating each other. Oud du Jour is a “serious” perfume (AKA it’s not a novelty scent); however, it’s having a lot of fun. This is a fruity oud and IT WORKS. It balances these textures, the moods…and the finally product is a really sophisticated fruity fragrance or an incense scent that isn’t about meditation but about energy. Notes listed include pink pepper, raspberry, saffron, incense, rose, lily-of-the-valley, dried plum, oud, black amber, patchouli and guaiac wood. Launched in 2016.
