The NCTS NU9220 is designed as a robust line-interactive UPS for protecting critical computing, networking, and peripheral equipment in offices, small data closets, or demanding home setups. With a 2000VA / 1200W rating and dual 12V 9Ah batteries, it strikes a balance between higher output capacity, extended runtime under moderate loads, and manageable form factor.
Electrical Behavior & Voltage Regulation
As a line-interactive unit, it corrects moderate voltage fluctuations using Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) (boosting undervoltage or bucking overvoltage) without tapping the battery. When input voltage moves outside tolerances, it switches to battery within 2–6 ms. During battery mode, it delivers a simulated sinewave output, suitable for many modern power supplies.
Input & Frequency Support
This model supports input configurations of 220 / 230 / 240 VAC (some sources also list 110/120 VAC in region variations), with 50/60 Hz auto sensing. The input voltage acceptance window is 140–300 VAC, allowing the UPS to ride through significant undervolt/overvolt conditions before switching to backup.
Battery System & Runtime Considerations
Equipped with two 12V 9Ah sealed lead-acid batteries in series (yielding 24V), the UPS offers more energy reserve than smaller units. The floating (standby) voltage for the pack is approximately 27.4 VDC. Recharge to ~90% typically requires 4–6 hours under no-load or light-load conditions.
Protection & Safeguards
The NU9220 includes protections for overload, overcharge, overdischarge, and short circuits. Status indicators (LED or LCD) display operating mode, battery level, and load, while audible alarms notify transitions or faults.
Physical & Load Guidance
This UPS is suitable for heavier office and network loads such as servers, rackless network switches, NAS units, and computer workstations. It’s less suited for large continuous loads like industrial or high-power server racks unless adequately sized. The unit’s form factor and weight make it manageable for closet or side-desk placement. Some sources list internal chassis material as metal for better durability.
